🌟 Learning is in full swing in DLI Kindergarten! 🌟
Our little learners have been working SO hard! 📚✏️
We’ve been diving into our CKLA Knowledge lessons, enjoying classic nursery rhymes like Baa, Baa, Black Sheep and Humpty Dumpty, and learning how to make predictions about what might happen next in a story. 💭📖
For example, before finishing Humpty Dumpty, our students made predictions about what they thought would happen after Humpty fell off the wall. Would he be able to get back up? Would someone help him? What would happen next? 🤔
Then we brought the story to life with some hands-on learning! Our students created their own Humpty Dumpty artwork and used band-aids to “put Humpty back together again!” 🩹🥚
In our CKLA Skills lessons, we’re practicing writing our first names and learning the sound /m/.
We’re building those important kindergarten foundations every day—learning letters and sounds, developing early writing skills, practicing listening and comprehension, making predictions, and growing our confidence as learners.

Our First Grade DLI students have been learning about tens and ones in Spanish (decenas y unidades), and on Friday they put their learning into action with a fun number scavenger hunt! 🔎
Students searched around the classroom for hidden numbers and then worked to identify each number and represent how many tens and ones it has. They were practicing their Spanish vocabulary while strengthening their number sense and place-value skills! 💯🧩
We love seeing our students learn through movement, collaboration, and hands-on experiences! 💙📚

This week in Miss Fox’s preschool class, we focused on the letter K and the importance of kindness! 💕 We learned about kangaroos, koalas, and practiced identifying the /k/ sound at the beginning of each word.
We also had meaningful conversations about different ways we can show kindness to others, both inside and outside of our school. We read Should I Share My Ice Cream? by Mo Willems, which helped us talk about sharing, caring for our friends, and thinking about how our actions can make others feel.
Our students are building a better understanding of our letter of the week and its sound while also learning how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in our classroom, our school, and our community!🧡🧡🧡

Once upon a time, our second graders wrapped up CKLA Domain 1: Fairy Tales and Tall Tales… and what better way to celebrate than with a Paul Bunyan party! 🪓💙
Our little lumberjacks enjoyed flapjacks, sported some seriously impressive beards, and celebrated all the tall tales they’ve learned along the way! 🥞🧔♂️

Miss Banta's kindergarteners are busy learning and growing their early literacy skills! 🧡 Students are practicing how to listen closely to sentences and hear each individual word. They're using cubes to represent each word they hear, counting the words, and practicing moving from left to right. These hands-on activities are helping build an important foundation for becoming confident readers and writers! 📚✏️

We are learning, growing, and having so much fun! Our preschool friends are busy learning our classroom routines, following directions, and discovering all the exciting things that come with starting school. Every day brings new experiences, new friendships, and lots of little moments to celebrate. We are so proud of how much our little learners are growing—preschool is such a special time!

We are so excited to share that our Second Grade teachers have been awarded a grant from the Dearborn County Retired Teachers Foundation, sponsored by the Betty McLaughlin Endowment! 🎉
These funds will be used to purchase hands-on materials that will help them bring our CKLA curriculum to life and provide our students with engaging, meaningful learning experiences beyond the pages of their books. 📚✨
We are incredibly grateful for organizations that invest in our teachers and students and help us make learning even more engaging! A huge thank you to the Dearborn County Retired Teachers Foundation and the Betty McLaughlin Endowment for supporting our classrooms! 🧡🖤
