Did you know Lawrenceburg High School is an Early College school?  Vincennes University, our primary higher education partner, is the statewide leader in Early College partnerships. VU's Early College Program (ECP) is designed for students who want to get a jump start on their college education while still attending high school by offering various pathways which allow students to earn both a high school diploma and an Associate's Degree or a Certificate of Graduation (ICC). Transcripted college credits are available to eligible high school students who enroll in Vincennes University courses offered at approved Indiana partner high schools or career centers.

SOUTHEASTERN CAREER CENTER EARLY COLLEGE PROGRAM

We have expanded our Early College Program to the Southeastern Career Center. Students are now able to take classes at both LHS and the career center as they pursue technical education courses in Construction Technology, Diesel Technology, and Welding Technology. VU'S TECHMESTER & XMESTER PROGRAM

The Vincennes University Techmester and Xmester Program brings Early College students from around the State of Indiana to the Vincennes campus for a residential summer experience to learn about STEAM career paths while experiencing campus life.

Campers will spend two days working with VU instructors and industry leaders to complete projects in 3D Printing, Art Studio, Automotive, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Entrepreneurship, Architecture/Building, Graphic Design, Song Writing, Health Care, How to Argue and Win, Information Technology, Law Enforcement, Music Production, Navigating the Chaos, Writer's Studio, Welding, Automotive Technology, Urban Farming, and Advanced Manufacturing.

This experience culminates with a showcase on the final day, which is open to families and all VU faculty and staff.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does this program cost anything?

Dual-credit classes do require additional fees. Those fees can vary depending on the structure of the class and the necessary learning materials, but they are all significantly lower than what is charged at the university.

Does my child have to leave campus?

No. We offer all of our dual-enrollment classes at LHS. There is an opportunity for interested students to attend Xmester in the summer on the campus of Vincennes.

Will I have a real teacher?

Most of our dual-enrollment classes are taught in the regular classroom with LHS teachers, but a few are offered online by VU professors.

Who is the Early College Program for?

Our hope is to make this opportunity accessible to all students, especially those who are typically overlooked as higher education participants.

Will these credits be accepted at other colleges/universities?

Former LHS Early College Program students have been successful in having their credits transferred to public Indiana colleges or universities.

You can learn about credit transferring in Indiana by visiting TransferIN. In addition, how credits transfer and how many credits transfer is always at the discretion of the receiving institution. Majors such as business or engineering will limit course transferability. The Indiana College Core (ICC) is the only credential that is guaranteed to transfer course-to-course to a public Indiana college or university.
